Springing Into Another Baecation
It was about that time again...to go another vacation. As it turns out my birthday always falls on drill weekend meaning, my birthday celebrations are always limited to what I can go out and do. So this was in a sense my post birthday gift.
Destination: Orlando, Florida
Day 1: March 6
After the six hour car ride to Kissimmee, Florida, we had finally arrived. Majority of the trip was planned out so that night we decided to just explore the surrounding area area and do anything that was free. That took us to... Old Town.
Now what solidified the name of Old Town was that once you walked away from the carnival lights, you were met with an old cobble road lined with stores with vintage vibes.
Once we got our fill of vintage vibes we headed to an authentic Cuban restaurant for dinner, because who wants to eat regular food that you can eat back at home when you travel?
Unfortnately Day 1, was short due to the fact that majority of the day was spent driving.
But Day 2...
Old Town was pretty much the equivalent of a beach boardwalk...with no beach. There was a small carnival area that included a wooden roller coaster, two bungie dropping rides, a ferris wheel and the usual fair games.
Day 2: March 7
Lakeridge Winery
So about a year ago, Devonte and I got on this wine kick, so rightfully so we went to a winery.
What's interesting about this winery is that they grow and make their own wine right on the premise. Before the wine tasting we opted to go on the tour of the premise and learn the history behind the label. The tour itself was about 45 minutes and then the whole group partook in the wine tasting. Another interesting fact about the Winery is that they even go as far as to teaching you the proper way to inspect and drink wine. The menu went from Super Sweet to Dry. Granted we didn't buy any wine bottles from the winery.
Cocoa Beach
Next on our to do list was to obviously go the beach. We decided on
Here's one thing we weren't prepared for was all the tolls, so if you're going to Florida...make sure you stock up on quarters. Because they are everywhere. You could just pay one on the highway, take an exit and then have to pay another back to back.
But back to Cocoa Beach, it was fairly uncrowded when we got there. We changed into our swimwear in a nearby resturant and then headed out the beach to stake our camp.
We didn't spend much time in the water, more so just relaxing and sipping on drinks. And that was totally fine. What I would suggest is that we bring a cooler, an oversized umbrella and beach mats so we aren't stuck sitting in camp chairs the whole time. Two hours later we had our fill of Vitamin D and we had started packing up to go to our next place
Disney Springs
So Disney Springs was a collection of stores and places to eat to include a movie theater. It was rather big to walk around but if you're looking for rides this is the place to NOT go. It's more like a downtown shopping street that had themed stores.
Day 3: March 8
Universal Studios
The real reason we had made the trip to the Orlando, Florida...
One thing I recommend is buy your tickets aead of time, it ensures that you don't have to wait in the ticket purchasing line which can get rather lengthy. We went straight to the will call booth and picked our tickets up and were off to our adventure. First up was of course the Hulk.
This was by far our favorite ride and we had got to the park in time to where there was small enough line to go ahead and make this our first ride. So the fun thing about this ride is that you see that tunnel looking thing in the picture...well It shoots you out at high speeds because obviously that's the start of the roller coaster and everything after that is for you to find out. But this is probably the most thrilling ride in the park and you for sure want to make sure to try it at least once.
Now as the Harry Potter Fan that I am, it was only right that we visited the Wizarding World and to of course try the famous Butterbeer.
It was amazing to be surrounded by fellow Harry Potter fans, walking around in their House Robes...it was also interesting to see who was spending the money to buy those robes as well. If your any type of fan of the Harry Potter franchise then this is a sure stop for you.
Other honorable mentions of rides that we rode was the: the Amazing Spiderman, King Kong and Jurassic Park.
