This trail had been on my Planned List on the

AllTrails

App List for a while now so now that I was back in North Carolina I figured I should go ahead and mark this off the list.

For some reason all the trails that I want to complete are like at a minimum of 45 minutes away from the house...so there was a short little drive down the street. But when we arrived there weren't too many cars in the parking lot and we only saw one person on the entire 5.6 miles we hiked.

I chose this trail because I wanted to do something fun for the dogs...so the trail is actually around the edge of the Lake Norman Lake so every once and awhile I would let

Toby

and

Kiara

go "jump" into the lake. I say jump because I'm still trying to figure out if Kiara likes the water or not. Meanwhile, Toby loves it.

At one point I got nervous that Toby would go too far and I wouldn't be able to get him because I for one CANNOT swim. And there's Kiara that loves to follow Toby and with me not being too sure on her abilities I called them back before continuing on the trail.

The trail itself is mostly shaded and it is SUPER CLEARLY marked, which even if it wasn't you shouldn't get to lost. I would say that there are some inclines along the trail but nothing too strenuous. Also towards the end, you do have to cross the street a couple of times so I would just be wary if you allow your dogs to walk off-leash.

Once we got to around the 4-5 mile mark I could tell the pups were getting a little tired from it all as they started to lag behind me, but nevertheless, they finished next to me.

Besides the views of the lake... It's not that super scenic in my opinion as opposed to my usual Mountain and Waterfall Trails. But to each their own.

Biggest Takeaway: If you let your dogs go swimming in the beginning they WILL dry off by the end of the trail.
